Simulation Controls
Adjust parameters before starting
Controls how many people are in the simulation (100–1500), determining how crowded (dense) the environment is
Percentage of population that starts vaccinated
Probability of transmission to a susceptible person during a contact or interaction
Percentage of infected individuals who die
Days an infected person remains contagious before recovering or dying
💡 Understanding Vaccine Effectiveness
Vaccine effectiveness (VE) means reduced risk compared to unvaccinated people. For example: if 20% of unvaccinated people get sick and VE = 95%, then vaccinated people have a 95% lower risk, so about 1% (20% × 5%) would get sick.
Herd immunity: When enough people are vaccinated, it reduces disease spread and helps protect even those who aren't immune by limiting opportunities for transmission.
Try a 90% vaccination rate with 97% VE to simulate measles—its high transmissibility requires very high immunity levels to prevent outbreaks.
